Assistant Professor
Mauro Silva
Mauro earned his Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG, Brazil) with a CAPES-FIPSE scholarship to perform his internship at Wake Forest University (USA) with Dr. Mark Chappell and Dr. Sarah Lindsey (Tulane University). He also performed an MSc in physiology with Dr. Adelina dos Reis and Dr. Maristela Poletini (UFMG). Dr. Silva later obtained his PhD in Physiology/Neurosciences from the University of Otago (New Zealand), specializing in neuroendocrinology under the supervision of Dr. Rebecca Campbell. His postdoctoral training included work with Dr. Paolo Giacobini and Dr. Vincent Prevot (INSERM, Lille, France) and with Dr. Victor Navarro (Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA).

Research assistant (Professionnelle de recherche)
Ana Cláudia Andrade
Ana earned her Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy and her Master's and PhD in Microbiology from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG, Brazil), under the supervision of Dr. Jonatas Abrahão. During her graduate studies, she focused on virology, working with a range of viruses including poxviruses, arboviruses, and coronaviruses, and gained experience in animal models of infection and cell culture. Ana completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Université Laval (Canada), where she studied pathogenic determinants of severe COVID-19 under the supervision of Dr. Louis Flamand.

PhD Student (Neuroscience Program)
Mona Masoumparast
Mona received her Bachelor of Cellular and Molecular Biology (2014-2018) from the Islamic Azad University Tehran Medical Branch, in Tehran, Iran. She proceeded to receive a Master's degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology (2019-2023) from the University of Tehran in Tehran, Iran. Mona's hobbies include swimming and water polo.

PhD Student (Molecular Medicine Program)
Muhammad Khan
Muhammad earned his BS (Hons) in Zoology from Islamia College University (Pakistan) and completed his MPhil in Zoology with a specialization in Reproductive Neuroendocrinology at Quaid-i-Azam University (Pakistan) under the supervision of Prof. M. Shahab. His MPhil research focused on the neuroendocrine effects of GnIH and Bisphenol A on the HPG axis in non-human primate models. He previously served as a Lecturer in the Department of Microbiology at FATA University. Outside the lab, he enjoys watching football and UFC and reading scientific research articles.

Exchange summer student
Scheraly Alexis
Scheraly completed her third year in a bachelor's degree in biotechnology at Collège La Cité (Ottawa, Canada). She is performing a summer research internship for 4 months in Dr. Silva's laboratory at CHUL RSME. In her spare time, she enjoys going on hikes, learning new languages, reading, and crochet.

International exchange MSc student
Laura Sirot
Laura is currently completing her fourth year of engineering studies in Biotechnology at ENSTBB - Bordeaux INP (Bordeaux, France). She completed a 4-month internship under Dr. Silva's supervision at CHUL RSME (Québec, Québec, Canada). When she's not studying, Laura enjoys immersing herself in books, horseback riding, and traveling. She is currently completing her research journey in Switzerland and France.

Master's student
Jean-Philippe (JP) Fiset
Jean-Philippe earned his bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from Collège LaCité (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada) and completed a master's degree under Dr. Silva's supervision at Université Laval. He also completed two research internships in Dr. Doyon's lab at the CHUL (Québec, Québec. Canada). In his free time, Jean-Philippe enjoys playing piano and indulging in winter sports. He is currently working as a research staff member with Dr. Sébastien Lévesque (CRCHUL - Unviersité Laval).
